AI as gasoline

Obviously AI is bad if you like the status quo. But who actually likes the status quo? It probably does a lot of psychological damage, and even now there are fringe groups wondering when we’ll get some 1 and 0 sentience.

Does it suck, this massive lift of materials all over the web? Sure. Even now one may see random bursts of scraping on their website, but oh well. Demoralizing artists, incentivizing piracy, and yeah, that sucks, but isn’t it cool to also witness the complete destruction of the current world order?

Blackmail deepfakes will soon unleash the world’s psychopaths in a deathmatch only God knows. My blood-ridden nanobots will activate and eviscerate my skull. But before then, if these LLMs are maximized toward truth, then one will see the worldviews of many slowly dismantled while they hope to hold on for any semblance of their old constructed reality, carefully curtailed by those who held all the previous soft power. We’re falling into the abyss together. If living is already an abyssal matter, may as well fan the fire.

It’s also unveiling the complete uselessness of most jobs and the basis of the funny money which keeps the circus moving around. Decimating the current appeal-to-expert reality and unveiling the absurdity of most educational institutions, doctors now typing in the symptoms. The NEETs shall inherit the earth, for they alone know what it means to be nothing, while all of the intelligentsia watch as their identity withers into dust.

Sure, AI isn’t all that fun if you want to skip along and keep the molasses moving. But if you begin see it as the dawn of horrors we can barely imagine, I don’t know, I think that’s kinda fun actually. It’s fun if you have little left to lose, honestly. In order to be an accelerationist one must discard all delusions that it accelerates in your favor: you may be sacrificed in the metamorphosis.

And we’re not even talking about the robot wars to come, if you can survive the upcoming fallout. I, for one, look forward to being a space marine while half of the hemisphere sinks harrowed in explosives through synchronized fleets as the Third Drone War cracks open. A trifling dispute, over the whole landmass of Greenland.

If you’re already feeling weird about things now, in five more years you may witness horrors beyond your comprehension. Why not buckle up? Born just in time to see the installation of a new control grid!

After all, there are worse things than death, and if we’re to tumbling into insignificance, well, I’d at least love to see how the world order scrambles to reestablish itself now that it has had twenty some years while all of these guerilla movements take shape and who knows, maybe it’s all planned anyway.

Of course, you can chide all of this and admonish: be careful what you wish for…

The thing is, it’s going to happen, it’s already happening. I’d rather maintain this skeptical indifference and bemusement than to cling onto our current dying reality, most of it long gone.
